Curd Rice


Its a standard in our homes at native to eat curd rice at the end of lunch to ease the spicy main dish. It also helps in digestion. Traditionally it is prepared using rice boiled in milk. In the changing lifestyle, why to add extra calories. We will be preparing only the simplest form of it at home. But try once to make curd rice with the rice cooked in milk.. It will taste very yummy..


Curd Rice



Ingredients:


Cooked rice            - 1 cup
Milk                        - 1/2 cup
Yogurt                  - 1 tbsp
Salt                         - As required

For Seasoning:

Oil                         - As required
Mustard Seeds      - Few
Urad Dal               - Few
Channa Dal           - Few
Red chilli              - 1
Curry Leaves        - little
Chopped Ginger   - Few

Procedure: 

  1. Add Milk and Yogurt to the cooked rice and mix it well.. Add salt as required
  2. Do the sesoning and add it to the rice
  3. Serve it with side dish of your choice. I usually serve it with Capsicum Thokku.

Quick Tips:

  1. To cook rice for curd rice add 3 cups of water for 1 cup of rice.
  2. Do not add the curd to hot rice. Wait till it cools down.
  3. You can add grated carrots and mangoes to it.
  4. You can also add fruits like Pomegranate and Grapes.
